Upper West Side Apartment Design
This apartment design took place in an old-law tenement building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was originally a narrow, cramped, railroad style apartment with a labyrinth of rooms. For this reason, the apartment was dark and uninviting. KOHN ARCHITECTURE updated the apartment with a design suitable for today’s modern lifestyle. The open plan design of the kitchen, living and dining area creates a bright open family gathering center. The Chef’s Kitchen and Island now contain top-of-the-line, built-in appliances, chic modern cabinetry, stone counters and natural wood finishes. Additionally, all of the apartment’s electrical, IT, plumbing and HVAC systems are up-to-date with today’s codes and standards.
