West 30th Street Heliport
KOHN ARCHITECTURE has experience in cool, airport lounge designs. The West 30th Street Heliport, is one of busiest major commercial heliports in the world. Located in New York City, the heliport is a busy hub for private helicopters, sight-seeing tours, and charter flights for variety of clientele including, film crews, business executives and celebrities.
KOHN ARCHITECTURE designed an ultra contemporary heliport terminal with stunning views of the Hudson River. The floor to ceiling, acoustically insulated windows allow waiting passengers to experience the exciting comings and goings of the helicopters, yet in a safe and quiet environment.
The arrival lounge has the sophisticated boutique feel of the Concorde jet era. Kohn used mod-chic furniture, rich wood veneers, sleek materials, and state of the art lighting suited to the First Class treatment these types of flyers have come to expect.
The new Control Room has been outfitted with a large screen state-of-art air traffic control system that consolidated old and antiquated equipment into one clean integrated display. The Heliport is also strategically located across from the new Hudson Yards development, the cultural center of Manhattan’s new West side.
