Commercial/Retail

For 30 years Kohn Architecture’ s practice has encompassed a large range of commercial and retail architectural projects in NYC. From the NBC’s Today Show studios to retail rollouts for national chains such as Footlocker, Hermes and Volcom. Our capabilities include Planning, Design, Graphics, FF&E, Tenant Fitouts and Project Management. We provide full services to owners, developers and retailers.

Residential

With extensive and varied experience in designing both luxury apartments to freestanding residences, Kohn Architecture is used to working collaboratively with clients. Each project is tailored individually to the clients’ needs, context and site. Our range of services includes, furniture and finish selections, lighting design, bath and kitchen planning to media environments. We strive for every project to take on a unique character and appearance. From the initial stages of the project through research, planning and construction, we work with our clients to address every aspect of the process.

Exterior Façades/Landmarks

Whether restoring an aging landmarked building or transforming an older building into a contemporary looking, high performance structure, our design services include the latest in CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies, for the delivery of high-quality construction documents, shop drawings and 3-D modeling. Facade Technology can also provide project specific, sustainable construction details for the complete building envelope, including energy efficiency, moisture management, fire ratings, sound/noise and aesthetic requirements.

Miscellaneous

Sometimes a project or service falls outside of the standard categories typically found in the building industry. We have had extensive experience in a variety of matters as well as design challenges. From air rights and zoning analyses, design feasibility studies, Special Permits to complex projects involving multiple city and state agencies, we often appear in front of Community Boards, the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals, City Planning Commission and Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Our flexibility and out of the box thinking allows us to help clients out with a variety of interesting and diverse projects ranging from religious buildings, performance spaces, large roof decks for multi-family dwellings, to designing complex mobile interactive Kiosks for NBC’s Today Show.
We develop solutions to problems by creativity, imagination, Design Thinking and problem solving, whether it applies to a complex zoning analysis or floating a roof deck over an existing structure, we find a way help our clients.
